Fit for Work ‘18

Kingussie High School is hosting an event for all young people in S5 & 6 on Thursday afternoon 1st March 2018.

We are keen to expose the youngsters to current and ‘real’ thinking and practice within the world of work. Having run the event over the last four years and judged it to be an outstanding success we are going to repeat the event again this year. The students will be asked to ‘dress to impress’ as part of their engagement with the process.

Guest contributors are invited for a soup ‘n sandwich lunch from 1.15 p.m. No such thing as a free lunch!

The afternoon plan is for small groups of seniors to visit 3 workshops (25 mins) led by industry and business experts. The plan is for the seniors to gain an insight into constructing CVs and applications; look at the interview process and thirdly key workplace skills and abilities. We wondered about a marketing exercise about ‘selling’ themselves and we are open to any other suggestions you might have..

Each contributor will be allocated a classroom with associated ICT. A maximum of three sessions will be held. The school afternoon starts at 2.05 and ends at 3.35 and we would like to hold a short review prior to concluding around 4.00pm.

If you feel you can support this initiative I would ask you to just phone or email to get any supplementary information and agree on a focus for your sessions. If we have enough contributors there may be an opportunity to sit in on another session.

We do believe activities such as this make a huge and positive impact of young people and their career planning. Your involvement is very much appreciated as part of their transition programme.

I hope you can participate and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Wendy Adamson
